The village has over 1000 inhabitants and extends at either side of the road that heads to the south of the island. Mácher is separated into two parts according to a curious and traditional agricultural divide: onions on the north side of the road, which is where the line is drawn, and tomatoes on the south. Part of its charm lies in that it is a peaceful paradise, with wonderful volcanic views and small shops selling food, situated just a stone’s throw away from Puerto del Carmen.
