Cycling

The island of Lanzarote is perfect for cycling. The north, centre and south of the island are home to mountains that rise up to 2200 feet above sea level. But the coast, on the other hand, is mostly flat. Amateurs and elite cyclists alike can appreciate the good conditions of its roads and its little traffic. And for those who like to be off the beaten track, there are a number of routes to explore the island in depth. Following the different pathways, you can skirt the island or cycle through it from north to south.

Puerto del Carmen is an ideal ‘base camp’ for tourism by bicycle. From this point you can access any corner of the island on a half-day or full-day trip. For those who prefer a leisurely bike ride, there is a cycle lane nearly 20 km long with no significant slopes, which joins Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise.
